SARA DAVIS, CVT, Veterinary Nurse

Sara joined the Brandt Veterinary Clinic staff in September of 2008. She graduated from Pierce College in Washington State with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology and is a Florida Certified Veterinary Technician.

Sara and her son, Tristen share their home with:

  •       *  Molly, an Australian Shepherd
  •       *  Bear, a Spaniel mix
  •       *  Scruffy, a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix
  •       *  Jacob, a Jack Russell Terrier
  •       *  Cajun, a Paint horse

Before moving to Florida in 2008, Sara lived in Alaska for 3 years. When she’s not busy caring for your pets, she enjoys spending quality time with her son. A life long equestrian, Sara used to show horses competitively and hopes to get back in the saddle in the near future.

 

BECKY WESTLAKE, Veterinary Nurse

Becky started in the veterinary field in 2001 at a local humane society in Englewood. She left the humane society for a veterinary office in 2003, and joined Brandt Veterinary Clinic in 2006. Currently Becky has three beautiful dogs: Sandy, Jake and Beau and has previously had many other pets includeing dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, and a cockatiel.

Becky has a special interest in animal learning and behavior, especially dogs and cats, andI loves helping solve and prevent behavior problems. Well behaved pets, whose owner’s understand them, are less likely to be surrendered to a shelter. Becky feels that the best, and most important part of her job is educating clients so they are better able to care for their furry family members. She is testimony to her beliefs as she has 3 of the best behaved dogs you'll ever meet!

When she's not at the clinic, Becky loves to hike with her dogs and read every animal behavior book she can get her hands on!  In August 2010, Becky and her husband Justin will be the proud parents of their first baby boy, Jason!

 


CHARLENE BAKER, Veterinary Assistant

Charlene has just celebrated her first anniversary at Brandt Veterinary Clinic!  "I have had pets my entire life and they have always been part of my family."  Currently She has two boxers, two cats, and two turtles. She has an Associate's degree in criminal investigations, but have always had an interest in working with animals and has really enjoyed her experience at Brandt. She has done volunteer work for various animal shelters over the last 18 years. Charlene is married now for 13 years and has two wonderful children. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, and going to the beach.

 

 

 

AMANDA FORNARO, Veterinary Assistant

Amanda hails from Annapolis, Maryland where she worked at a Veterinary Emergency clinic for several years as well as working for the local SPCA.   She attended South River High School, Anne Arundel Community College, and is currently pursing veterinary technician school for her certification at San Juan Veterinary Technician College.   Amanda joined Brandt Veterinary Clinic in Februay, 2010.   When not at the Clinic, she spends her time with her two dogs, Romeo the Pomeranian and puppy Catahoula, Dakota, and Aurora, Charlie, Leo and Fiona her cats.   As if that doesn't keep her busy, Amanda enjoys, kayaking, going to the beach, reading and is a very creative crafter.

 

 

 

 GEORGENE FIELDS, Client Relations Specialist

Georgene started her career in veterinary client relations in Sarasota in 1999.  She moved to Ohio, took some time off to be a stay home mother for her son Clayton and      resumed her career in Ohio at Bartels and Busack Pet Reosrt and Spa.  Once you live in Florida, the cold winters of Ohio are harder to love and Georgene moved back to Florida to join Brandt Veterinary Clinic.  When you ask her what her favorite part of her job is, she says, "I love greeting our clients and their pets"!  Georgene loves cats and enjoys fostering our adoption kittens because they are so soft and cuddly and give so much affection.  Her favorite things to do are to take long walks on the beach and spend time with her son.  Her favorite saying is, "Remember yesterday, love today, and live for tomorrow.  Georgene enjoys reading and is currently reading Eckart Tolle's "The Power of Now". 

 

 

 

MARGARET KENNEDY, Client Relations Specialist

Here Margaret is with her best friend, Mugzy. (Don't tell her husband, Jason!)  It is because of him that she left the mortgage business and has gone back to school to become a Certified Veterinary Technician.  She works fulltime as a client relations specialist taking care of your needs, then goes to school fulltime at night.  She has been with animals all of her life, starting as a child at her grandfather’s farm, then as a teen volunteering at the local humane society shelter and farm, and as an adult, working for a boarding kennel and showing Akitas.  Her interest is in animal behavior and she loves to learn.  Being  in the veterinary field really allows for that.  When asked what Margaret likes best about Brandt Veterinary Clinic, she says "It's the feeling that all of our pet patients and parents are part of my extended family. It is wonderful having such a large 4 legged family."!

 

SUZANNE "SUE" WAXMAN,  Client Relations Specialist

One of the very first people you encounter when you walk through the glass doors here at BVC is Sue.  She is a Client Relations Specialist, and it is her mission is to ensure you are completely satisfied with every aspect of your experiences.  In her words, "your complete satisfaction is my top priority".  After many years in the real estate industry she has come full circle and is now back to her first passion – veterinary medicine!  Sue grew up in Williamsport Pennsylvania with a home full of dogs and cats, and a barn full of horses. Her uncle was the veterinarian in town and she worked for him every summer and after school. Today, she states she is proud to be a part of the Brandt Veterinary Clinic team. "What an amazing and spectacular place to work" she says. "Working with the best and for the best is an opportunity of a life time. Because of the tremendous support and educational experiences I have received while working here at Brandt, I have decided to continue with veterinary medicine and further my education by earning my degree as a Certified Veterinary Technician".  Sue starts her CVT training in August 2010!

Sue lives with Rudy, her Golden Retriever, Gerda (formerly "Maybe") her cat, Buddha, a grey American Quarter Horse and is a foster mom for the kittens you will find in our Adoption Program.  In her spare time, she is a Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist and enjoys cooking, yoga, meditation and antique shopping.

 

NATE FRANKS, Animal Care Specialist 

Nate is the newest member of the BVC!  An Ohio native, Nate has been living in Sarasota County for the past 15 years with his college sweetheart, now wife, Danielle.  His mom has always told him “If you want something, go get it!”  and he lives that motto.  In Nate's words "I know that I can do anything I put my mind to!!"  With an Associate Degree in Business Management/Sales & Marketing, and another in Business Managment/Music & Video, Nate has a wide variety of experiences including cooking, retail management, landscaping, land surveying and maintenance.   His interests range from music and movies to baseball, tattoos, video games and great food!  He is a very funny guy and likes making people laugh.  Most important in his life is family, friends and of course "Sookie", his siamese cat mix. 

 

Nate's favorite colors are green, brown, tan, and black; his favorite foods, well there are just too many to name!  His favorite saying is "Right On" and his favorite quote, is by Thomas Edison:  "I have not failed.  I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”
